Urban Wear - The Power of The Handbag!

If you have never known the true secret power of urban wear
handbag as a woman, then this info will be exceptionally revealing.

You see, the fact that your dress is not complete without your handbag shows that there is indeed some power attached to it. How much super power is attached to it you may ask? Well dear reader you are about to find out soon. You can find most ladies without other forms of clothing, but hardly without their handbags, especially when going to an important occasion or party.

Some people say that ladies use bags due to the fact that they don't have anywhere else to keep their wallet and other stuff, when you are a guy it's a lot easier to put something in to your jeans pocket. These kinds of people keep saying that if the ladies had pockets they wouldn't carry handbags. But this is not the complete picture at all. Even though you may think a lady needs a handbag to put away items, like cash and additional things, girls use bags as part of their urban wear style.

Their streetwear
will simply not be complete when they don't carry their bags. And this is not just any kind of handbag but the right handbag for the right dressing. From queens, first ladies, senators and business ladies. Most powerful women are never seen without their handbags. Powerful men can be found many times without their purses, but never powerful ladies. This certainly tells us that there is a world of power connected to a woman's handbag. So, you should never be found anywhere without your handbag. And your bag should always complement your dress.

You should know by now that urban wear handbags, such as Apple Bottoms
absolutely contain super powers. Don't be surprised that it is one of the reasons why the men can't help staring at you when you are fully dressed and carrying your handbag!

Knockout Nation: Khan Breaks Down Malignaggi, Ortiz Outboxes Campbell, Hopkins Wants Calzaghe and Bu

Malignaggi Has No Answers for Khan

Before his hometown NYC crowd last night (May 15), Paulie Malignaggi (27-4, 5 KOs) was thoroughly beaten by a well prepared Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KOs), who took out his Brooklyn foe with a dominant 11th round TKO.

From the outset, Malignaggi had no answers for Khan’s superior speed and power. Amir was able to consistently get off first with his stiff jab, and even at times with lead left hooks and straight rights.

By the 4th round, Khan was also making Malignaggi pay for trying to come inside, clipping him with a head-turning right uppercut. In the following round, Paulie’s offense was hampered further by Khan’s longer reach, and the Brooklynite was punished with multiple flush right and left hooks to the face.

The 8th and 9th rounds were complete whitewashes for Amir Khan. In the former round, the UK fighter began attacking more with impunity, as the light-hitting Malignaggi (5 KOs in his career) could do nothing to keep his opponent off him. Khan could not miss Malignaggi’s head with any of his shots, finding a home for the jab, left uppercut, and hooks with both hands. In the latter stanza, Paulie continued to get busted up with stiff left jabs and hooks, and the Magic Man’s face was swollen all over with a mouse under the left eye.

Following another brutal 10th round, referee Steve Smoger asked Malignaggi if he wanted to come out for another round. Despite Paulie’s affirmations, Smoger refused to let the bout continue until the ringside physician had a thorough review. Once completed, Malignaggi was advised he had one more round to make a stand.

With no power to turn the tide, Paulie Malignaggi absorbed more hooks as he tried to land a desperate home run shot. A Khan left hook caused him to careen into the ropes, and Smoger stopped the bout as Malignaggi feebly threw weak punches in retaliation.

The 11th round TKO made Amir Khan’s U.S. debut a successful coming out party, and now Golden Boy’s most promising young star turned his attention to his remaining division rivals.

“A lot of people put the pressure on me to fight Maidana. I’ll fight Maidana next,” Khan told HBO’s Max Kellerman. “Let Bradley fight Alexander, and the winner of that fight face me in the finals…let’s do it! I will not leave 140 until I’ve unified the titles.”

In spite of all his prefight trash talk, Paulie Malignaggi made no excuses for his loss and gave Khan full credit.

“Amir just fought a really good fight. [He gave] lots of angles, kept changing distance, that was the plan for me [but] Amir was quicker,” Malignaggi admitted. “Amir’s younger, he had that youthful enthusiasm and I give him a lot of credit.”

On the undercard, Victor Ortiz kept his poise for 10 rounds and was able to easily outbox a now slower and fading Nate Campbell.

At 38 years old, Campbell was unable to chase down Ortiz, who circled for the majority of the bout and countered Campbell with hard straight lefts and flurries. Scorecards for the bout read 100-89 twice, and 99-90.

HBO did much to sell the junior welterweight division, doing a video package focusing on its talented young guns Timothy Bradley, Devon Alexander, and Marcos Maidana. In addition, the network covered the division’s other top fighters in Juan Manuel Marquez, Juan Diaz, Ricky Hatton, and Andriy Kotelnik. From commentator Max Kellerman’s own mouth, HBO looks to be putting their hopes on this division to carry their boxing coverage before and following Mayweather-Pacquiao.

Bernard Hopkins Looking for Another Match

Following the abysmal April PPV encounter that was Hopkins-Jones, there was no one clamoring to see Bernard Hopkins in the ring ever again. Even Golden Boy CEO Richard Shaefer told the press he’d like to see the Executioner hang it up. But Hopkins is ignoring these retirement suggestions, and is reportedly seeking bouts with Lucian Bute or Joe Calzaghe.

Last month, Bute destroyed Edison Miranda with a 3rd round TKO. Many consider Bute the top super-middleweight in the world despite the ongoing Super Six tournament. Joe Calzaghe beat Bernard Hopkins via controversial split decision in 2008. Calzaghe announced his retirement that year after beating Roy Jones and hasn’t fought since.

Hopkins was in attendance last night but did not disclose whether serious talks have begun for either proposed fight.

Calzaghe was in the States for Mayweather-Mosley, and in remarkably good shape for someone 2 years into retirement, which fueled speculation he was considering a comeback bout.

If the Welshman does come back, more than likely it would be for the Super Six winner or Bute. Calzaghe was adamant following the Hopkins bout that he would never fight Bernard again. And fans were not demanding a rematch either of the foul-filled bout.

On the other hand, Bute may fancy the Hopkins showdown since his biggest super-middleweight opponents are tied up with the Super Six for the next year. The big question would be the weight, as Hopkins has been campaigning in recent years at light-heavyweight.

Until someone decisively beats him, Bernard Hopkins looks like he won’t even consider retirement.

Mayweather-Pacquiao Reps Hope to Prevent Previous Media Fiasco

Many fans and media still have a bitter taste in their mouths after the most anticipated fight in boxing history fell through in February over disagreements on Olympic style drug testing.

Following dominant victories for Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather in their last fights, both camps have begun quiet preliminary talks to resurrect the fight.

Bob Arum recently spoke to ESPN and advised that both sides have vowed to iron out their differences behind closed doors without regular media updates. Last time, Arum was one of the main culprits of “media negotiation,” and regularly disparaged Mayweather’s camp during the process, and later with the last-ditch third-party mediation.

Skepticism aside, I believe both parties have come to grips that no other opponent is acceptable besides each other. Between them, Pacquiao and Mayweather have eliminated the other top welterweights (Mosley, Clottey, Cotto) between them, and proved that they are far more talented than anyone else in the division. Now is the time to see who the best fighter in the world is.

While it’s still early, expect this one to end up in Las Vegas with a 50-50 purse split, and Mayweather getting the Olympic style testing, but with some provision that stops it at least 10-14 days before the fight.

At press time, the fight is targeted for November.

Academy Awards 2010 Round-Up

via Urban Clothing and Hip Hop Clothing by Andre Sanchez on 3/15/10

Does every Academy Award bring something different to the table? For the most part yes, since viewership increased to 40 million+ viewers this year, as opposed to 36 million last year. What exactly brought that increase?

One could say the list of movies on deck to receive awards last night: the 3D age now approaching even faster because of James Cameron’s “Avatar”, or the controversy with Director Lee Daniels’ in-your-face approach to  “Precious”.

Or maybe it was the fashion? A few hits and misses:

sandra.png
Sandra Bullock won best actress last night for her role as a sympathetic no-nonsense mom on “The Blind Side”, and managed to shimmer in this metallic Marchesa sheath. Nice touch on the lipstick! Grade: A

latifah.png

Queen Latifah doesn’t fail to disappoint in this number. Nice touch on the classier side of the color pink! Grade: B+

monique.png

Monique has had a hell of a year hasn’t she? Although her recently admitting to not shaving her legs in a recent Barbara Walters interview, I’m giving an A just because she’s covering her legs up! Ok, and because she won for her role in “Precious”. Grade: A

zoe.png

Zoe Saldana turns heads, and maybe it’s the gracefulness of her many years of ballet training that makes her stand out so different from the rest. Grade: B+

and the complete list of winners from that night:

All of us have our favorite movies and nominees but for me, it was more interesting what happened post-Oscars.

For example, “Precious” star Gabourey Sidibe was ridiculed by shock jock Howard Stern in ways I won’t say here, but basically he was saying she won’t get another role other than on “The Blind Side 2″ as a linebacker.

Well, surprise Howard! She finished up shooting another film and is in post production for another show, so be on the lookout for those! What was your favorite part of the awards?

Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments!

Friday Fashion Feature: Black History Month Fashion Tribute: Andre Benjamin

via Lifestyle / Fashion by grouchygreg on 2/5/10

In celebration of Black History Month, we will randomly be choosing African-American style icons to pay tribute to – past and present. From actresses to rappers and political figures, we will recognize those who stand out in the world of fashion. We're kicking it off with Andre Benjamin, aka "Andre 3000", a man brought new exciting flavor to the hip hop world. The rapper, actor and clothing designer is known for rocking outlandish outfits consisting of fedora hats, high waisted pants complete with suspenders, bow ties, odd combinations of colors, prints and fabrics.

As AskMen.com put it, "His musical talent and contributions to OutKast are well-known and fans soon learned that his stage wardrobe was nothing more than an evolution or re-interpretation of his own personal style culled from his many interests and penchant for English-inspired vintage clothing".

His classic preppy swag translates into his very own Benjamin Bixby clothing line, which brings "rough luxury" to menswear.

Unlike many rapper-driven clothing lines, Benjamin Bixby has a classic and sophisticated look. Initially inspired by the late 1930s Ivy League athletics, the line features tartan prints, tweed suits, rich knits, duffel coats, high quality selvedge denim and more.

“For an African-American guy to be a prep, that’s a dichotomy,” he told The New York Times,“Prep style comes from mostly affluent families who just wear these cool clothes. But when you come from a background that has more struggle, your take on it will be different. There’s a certain kind of rebel to it.” “I can’t pretend I’m from New England or I’m at school at Harvard or Oxford, but when you think of men’s dress, you have to give a nod to England,” he said. “They created it all and brought it to America. We calmed it and made it cool.”

Urban Clothing - The Maturing of Akademiks Clothing through History

One of the top urban clothing companies nowadays is akademiks clothing. It was founded in 1999 by brothers Donwan Harrell and Emmet Harrell with the concept of pursuing truth in fashion. This year is the company’s eleventh year and it continues to work with feeling, uniqueness, and energy. Akademiks clothing continuously pursues its mission to inspire and lead a youth fashion revolution with forward thinking and concrete collections that inspire personal style.

The president, co-founder, and creative director of akademiks clothing is Donwan Harrell. He is also one of the former top ten designers at Nike. generating bold, well-designed fashion items that are both classically cool and effortlessly modern are his focus for the brand. According to him, denim or jeans appeal to all ages and to all incomes. It is the footstone of Harrell’s designs, and is an area of consistent originality.

The music and the arts are big influences on the philosophy of Akademiks. Many artists like M.I.A. and Kid Sister serve as inspirations for the brand. They have collections for men, women, boys, and girls which are all focused on originality and individualism with a strong street edge. For their Fall 2009 Denim Collection, they collaborated with NYC’s Bulldog Bikes, the first and only multi-cultural bike company in BMX history.

The brand has grown and evolved along with the boom in the hip hop fashion industry . Akademiks became popular in 2001 when Brooklyn rapper Fabolous included the akademiks clothing brand in some of his lyrics. He also wore an akademiks velour on the inside cover of his debut album Ghetto Fabolous. Other celebrities who wear the brands PRPS jeans are rappers Dizzee Rascal and 50 Cent, just to name a few.

It is among the top 10 most sought after brands that have set a trend in the world of urban clothing. Other top brands are Apple Bottoms, Baby Phat, Coogi, Ecko unlimited, G-Unit, Dereon clothing, Rocawear, Sean John, and Vokal.

The urban fashion trends will in fact change but good, quality brands like Akademiks, Sean John, and many more, will continue to mature with the times.

Yemen: Tackling the roots of terrorism through hip-hop

Turbaned men dancing with daggers and rappers donning New York Yankees caps may not seem to have anything in common, but in Yemen this combination sent a packed theater of more than 500 Yemeni youth into a boisterous frenzy.

On Nov. 17, a sold-out show at the Yemeni Culture House in the nation’s capital, Sanaa, fused elements of hip-hop culture such as break dancing with traditional Yemeni music, and doubled as a campaign to promote peace and national unity in this desperately poor country that is being torn apart by different domestic insurgencies – as well as touted as a new base for Al Qaeda.

In Yemen’s staunchly traditional society, the main activities for young people are chewing khat, a mild narcotic, or going to mosques. Events like last week’s show hope to promote hip-hop culture as a healthy alternative and keep youths from being swept up into extremist ideas, say event organizers.

“[In Yemen] you have people who are trying to gain support among the youth for every sort of cause: Al Qaeda, Salafis.… We have to win the hearts and minds of the kids,” said one of the event organizers who wishes to remain anonymous because of his close ties with the Yemeni government.

“Yemen is hungry for hip-hop. When I first came here in 2003 you couldn’t find a rapper or a break dancer,” said Hagage Masaed, an American of Yemeni descent and self-described “Snoop Dogg” of Yemen who has been a centerpiece of hip-hop’s growth in the country.

“All the problems youth are facing in Yemen – there’s no work – this a way for them to release. It’s an outlet,” he said before the start of the show.

Indeed, when Mr. Masaed came onstage rapping, with lyrics such as “one Yemen united” and “no terrorism please,” the crowd went wild.

“I hope in the future hip-hop grows more in Yemen,” said Yunis Shuilah, a rapper who likes to go by the nickname “Pro Boy,” after the show. “The music and the dance are the best for the guys. We are free when we do hip-hop.”

The First Annual Hip-Hop Gun Show: It’s a Blast

We thought this was a funny one from the guys over at Sojones so we felt we should pass it along. Enjoy!

via Urban Clothing and Hip Hop Clothing by Andrew Ricketts on 1/19/10

In honor of recently adopted looser gun controls, the National Rifle Association and several premiere athletes and rappers hosted a firearm fashion show for the ages in an exclusive ballroom in the Hollywood foothills. In order to connect with a newer but receptive audience, the NRA looked for some unlikely spokespersons and solicited several hip-hop artists either slated for jail time on gun charges or recently released on probation.

Asked for his thoughts on the endorsement alliance between notorious press figures like Lil Wayne, Gilbert Arenas and gun lobbyists, NRA president Ron Schmeits remarked “It ain’t trickin’ if ya got it, frankly. The rap community has long been a vocal advocate of creative gun violence and willing trigger fingers. I’m surprised this didn’t happen sooner.”

NBA star JaVale McGee

As the sun set over the lavish banquet hall, NBA and NFL players each arrived with 2-3 dozen of their entourage in tow. Rather than halting for the now customary pat-down at the door, players like Javale McGee of the Washington Wizards nervously walked past the velvet rope as invited guests.

Although league commissioners David Stern and Roger Goodell could not be reached for comment on the private event, their respective Public Affairs officers issues pre-recorded voicemails that they would be “out of town” as word of the gala reached press outlets late that evening. Amid the hoopla surrounding the recent arrests and convictions of Mr. Mane and Mr. Wayne, some attendants were unsure of how the event might be received by more “traditional” friends of the Second Amendment in Congress.

“Because, let’s be honest,” added an unnamed contributor, “if we knew that guns would be this popular in the African-American community, I don’t think any of us would have signed on.”

Rough transitions notwithstanding, many NRA members were happy to mingle alongside Billboard chart-toppers and ball-playing dynamos. In fact, the organization’s treasurer and Gilbert Arenas were observed sharing a few puns after the latter’s keynote address entitled “Never Met A Shot I Didn’t Like.”

The palatial setting was offset by some atypical furnishing once the runway portion of the event began. Models decked in teflon swimwear and high-heeled boots outfitted with sheer nylon holsters clomped down the runway with guns drawn as several members of T.I.’s Grand Hustle Entertainment stood double-fisting red plastic cups of NuVo, and pointing at the garish gun gear. Not only that, but a life-sized replica of deceased NWA front man Eazy E also hovered over the hors d’oeuvre spread of finely minced goose liver pate.
Republican Party Chairman, Michael Steele, proclaimed the soiree an all-around success, arguing that liberals were unwilling to meet misunderstood athletes and rappers halfway.
“I think what we’ve found here is a common ground, and one that should be exploited even more than it has been in years past,” Steele offered as he brushed past Adam “PacMan” Jones’s intimidatingly bulging bulletproof tuxedo.

“Yea, shawty, dew as I say — not as I dew. Some guns make your life much harder in the long run, but others, like this semi-automatic Beretta, will give you unimaginable power on the block. Just remember, with great power come EBEN greater ’sponsibility.”

Editor’s Note: If you haven’t guessed, this is a satire, and thus completely fictional. It’s meant to be completely over the top and ludicrously false– but given today’s current events, we wouldn’t be surprised if you took it as the real thing.

Hip-Hop Superstar Nelly Set to Feature Customized 2011 Mustang as Part of New Album Artwork

* The 2011 Mustang GT is set to make its hip-hop debut alongside Grammy Award-winning artist Nelly as part of his upcoming album’s artwork

* DUB Magazine tricked-out a 2011 Mustang GT for Nelly that features a gloss black exterior paint job, flat black racing stripes and 22-inch Pirelli tires in the front and 24-inch tires in the rear

* The new Mustang GT continues Ford’s powertrain offensive with an all-new 5.0-liter V-8 engine, which uses advanced technology to deliver 412 horsepower and projected unsurpassed highway mileage of 25 mpg

The 2011 Mustang 5.0-liter V-8 is set to make its hip-hop debut alongside Grammy Award-winning artist Nelly as part of his upcoming album’s artwork. The album, set to launch this spring, will feature a tricked-out 2011 Mustang GT customized by DUB Magazine.

The 35-year-old rapper, actor and mogul, who was most recently ranked third on Billboard Magazine’s “Artist of the Decade List,” says the Mustang is one of the hottest muscle cars ever to hit the streets.

“I don’t care where you grew up, everyone knows the Mustang. At some point, you’ve had a conversation about a Mustang – and it was probably one about you wanting to get behind the wheel of one,” says Nelly. “I’ve always loved the Mustang; the vehicle has power to the point where you can’t help but want to hit the pedal. And the newest one? More power, hotter style.”

Nelly’s tricked-out Mustang GT came to life after the artist caught a glimpse of the vehicle while inside the walls of Ford’s design studio a little more than a year ago as part of a partnership tied to the launch of the 2009 Ford Flex. Since then, Nelly has collaborated with Ford’s design team and DUB’s customization team to make the Mustang his own while still keeping the vehicle true to its muscle car roots.

Crystal Worthem, Ford’s Multicultural Marketing communications manager, says Nelly is an amazing partner for Ford: Nelly has an impressive history within the entertainment world, just as the Mustang has a strong history within the automotive world.

“Nelly is a true car guy, there’s no denying that. When Nelly expressed interest in wanting to partner with Ford on the all-new 2011 Ford Mustang GT, we knew it was a perfect fit,” said Worthem.

“The Mustang has such appeal within the urban market. Since it was launched, the vehicle has made appearances in several of the most popular urban films,” Worthem added. “This was just a great opportunity for Ford, and we’re excited that the Mustang GT is going to be a part of one of the most anticipated albums of 2010.”

The exterior of the vehicle features a custom gloss black paint job with flat black racing stripes and a one off custom wide body Street Scene body kit complete with custom 22- and 24-inch TIS Modular wheels and Pirelli tires. The vehicle also includes a billet grille, hood scoop, tinted taillights, Eibach springs, angel eyes headlights and a Borla exhaust.

In addition, the interior is a complete suede and leather design with a custom JL Audio system that includes two 12-inch subwoofers, amps and speakers.

Nelly says he can’t wait to hit the streets in his 2011 Mustang GT.

“I’m itching to get behind the wheel of my Mustang and really take it out on the streets. This vehicle being a part of my album artwork is just a reflection of the direction and feel that the album has. To be able to partner with Ford again on another vehicle that is going to change the automotive game is exciting,” said Nelly.

Urban Clothing Mogul Gets Reality Show

First it was Russell Simmons’ brother, Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons with his MTV reality show “Run’s House”, then his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons in “Life in the Fab Lane”, and then his nieces, Vanessa and Angela Simmons in “Daddy’s Girls”. It’s high time the godfather of urban clothing gets his own reality show!

The hip hop mogul teams up with Oxygen in developing “The Russell Simmons Project”, a show which will follow Russell’s female assistants who basically manage his business deals, family life, party planning and love life.

Leave it to the Simmons clan, as they seem to know how to run their businesses and juggling their busy schedules intermixed with their personal lives.  As for us who watch from the sidelines, it’s always great to be able to get a glimpse of how successful families do.

Sean John Clothing Sues Over Obstruction

Hip Hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is in the process of suing the landlords of the building his New York City Sean John Clothing flagship store is located in for quite a large sum of money.

According to sources, the lawsuit stems from a scaffolding that was placed in front of the store and left there for almost three years now. And lawyers are claiming that the scaffolding, which "substantially obstructed the view of the clothing and furnishings displayed in the ground floor windows," cost the companya substantial amount in potential sales.

Lawyers are even claiming that the scaffolding caused revenue to drop by 50%  at  the Sean John  retail store and as a result they are suing for $2.5 million.

Sean John lawyers also revealed that the scaffolding was put up way back in 2006 and was just left there.

Created in 1998, Sean John clothing has prided itself on “well-made, sophisticated fashion forward clothing” for over a decade now.
