Sean John Clothing - The Signature Style

Sean “Diddy” Combs is known as one of the few hip hop artists that continues to bring the hip-hop culture into the mainstream. Known by many as the "Shiny Suit Man", it was Sean John Clothing that introduced a new trend of urban fashion through his own passion and style. This love for urban clothing fueled his desire to share his enthusiasm with other people by founding a signature brand that he himself started, the Sean John Clothing line. Along with other popular brands in its time, like Fubu and Karl Kani, Combs and his line of hip-hop clothing brought forth a multi-million dollar hip hop fashion industry.

It was 1998 when Combs first introduced his own line of hip-hop clothes, Sean John Clothing. Since its launch, Sean John has enjoyed critical success with revenues now exceeding $100 million annually. People representing the brand include Combs himself, musicians such as Nelly, T.I., Fabolous, The Game, Wisin & Yandel and Daddy Yankee, athletes including Dwyane Wade and Tristan Sooklal, plus fashion models Tyson Beckford and Kevin Navayne.

Because of the popularity of “Diddys” urban clothing line, Combs himself has often appeared at the award ceremony for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) held annually in New York. For five consecutive years since 2000, Sean John has been nominated for its excellence in design. In 2004, Sean John was awarded the CFDA Men's Designer of the Year award. Along with awards, Combs have also produced several fashion events that would greatly boost his brand's popularity.

In February 2001, Sean John produced the first nationally televised runway show during Fall Fashion Week when it simultaneously aired live on E! Television and the Style Network. During fashion week in February 2002, the New York Times ran a front page story on Sean John.
Sean John Clothing Inc is a clothing and fragrance line owned by hip-hop mogul Sean John Combs and supermarket mogul Ron Burkle. The apparel company takes its name from Combs' first and middle given names. According to an interview, "I always had the idea that I would start my own apparel line, but I wanted to make sure the timing was right and that I had the time to devote to it." - Sean Combs, on launching Sean John
